
TREATMENT
Although there is no cure for pica disorder, there are some steps you can take to reduce the symptoms of this eating addiction disorder. For instance, you can contact and schedule an appointment with your local physician, psychologist, or social worker in order to receive answers and advice about what you should do in order to improve your condition. Although many people diagnosed with pica disorder do not see any health issues in the beginning, serious problems such as digestive and teeth complications may arise in the long run.
Unfortunately, there is no medical treatment for pica. However, there has been a trace of evidence that suggests there are drugs that enhance dopaminergic functioning, that may provide treatment alternatives in individuals with pica disorder.
As of today, behavioral strategies are aknowledged as the most efficient method in the treatment of pica. Such strategies include:

Antecedent manipulation

Training in discrimination between edible and nonedible items

Self-protection devices that prohibit placement of objects in the mouth

Sensory reinforcement

Differential reinforcement of other or incompatible behaviors

Overcorrection
Additional management measures include the following:
